2026-06-01 [CHF26] Monthly Missive - June CHF 2026 Participants: We are now 30 days from the beginning of CHF 2026, so this will be our final "Monthly Missive" (but keep an eye out for the "Weekly Wire" over the next four weeks). This month's message addresses the following: * Setup and Teardown * Festival Schedule Draft * Clothing Check-Out * Teachers Needed for Lucet Class * Q&A Zoom Meeting * Exhibits Needed to Participate in Colonial Quest * Festival Theme **Please Help with Setup and Teardown** Behind every great festival is a small army of people who show up before the crowds arrive and stay long after they leave. That army is made up of people like you, and **we need your help!** If you are able to assist with pre-festival tasks and setup or teardown, please sign up using this link. Dates range from June 27–July 6, 2026. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0449A9A62BA2FFC52-62321194-festival#/ **We ask everyone who is able to sign up for at least one setup or takedown shift.** Please also share this link with people in your circle who would like to be part of this grand event. Even a few hours of help makes an enormous difference. **Festival Schedule Draft** Gove and Mindy are meeting to complete the first draft of the schedule on Wednesday morning (June 3). If you have a presentation, class, or time-specific demonstration and have not been in communication with Program Chair Mindy Jeppesen, please reach out to her at mindyjeppesen@gmail.com or 206-599-9614. Keep an eye out for next week's Wire for a **link** to review the schedule and your placement in the park. **Clothing Check-Out** If you are a full-time volunteer and are relying on the foundation to help with your clothing, you need to sign up for a fitting using this link: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0449A9A62BA2FFC52-62832293-wardrobe#/ Fittings begin June 15, but you can contact Kae Jordan (801-472-6225) now to schedule a time sooner if you like. We highly recommend that you get your clothing early. With many more volunteers than in years past, there is much more pressure on the wardrobe this year. If you wait until the days leading up to the festival, you may end up wearing something that is quite ill-fitting. If you can provide any piece of your own wardrobe, it would be very helpful. See the clothing guide here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-a-RSjPrbgcEPno9-uGtBe94gH8wj20H/view?usp=sharing **Teachers Needed for the Lucet Class** We're looking for a couple of volunteers to teach our lucet class this year. The lucet is a wonderful two-pronged tool used to create cords and braids, and it makes for a perfect hands-on demonstration of colonial textile crafts. If you have experience with lucet work and would be willing to share your skills, we'd love to hear from you. Classes like this are one of the key ways we deepen our hands-on profile and give festival visitors a true taste of colonial life — so your contribution would make a real difference. Please reply to this email if you're interested or know someone who might be! **Q&A Zoom Meeting** On Saturday, June 20, 2026, we will hold a Zoom meeting open to all participants of this year's festival. Attendance is optional, but it will be an opportunity to have your questions answered and to hear others' questions as well. We'll start at 7:00 pm MDT and continue as long as folks have questions. Here's the link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/83206061979?pwd=XzIDcwpQrF03NOb7aW5brUzoQoL7Io.1 **Exhibits Needed to Participate in Colonial Quest** This year we are bringing back the Colonial Quest, a knowledge hunt for kids and the young at heart. If you would like to participate and increase interest in your exhibit, consider sharing some questions with us that you use as part of your regular interactions with our guests. Examples: "What fuel was most commonly used in a blacksmith's forge in the American Colonial period?" or "What is the name of the first permanent English settlement in North America?" Just reply to this email if you'd like to add your questions (and answers). **Festival Theme: Uniting America** Thanks to Robyn Pitman and Dalane England for sharing their thoughts on our theme this year: "Uniting America: Our shared values are stronger than our differences." We made a short video encapsulating their thoughts. You might see someone you know. ;-) https://youtu.be/KV3wxn7ocUg Please give some thought about how you might weave this theme into your interactions with festival guests. Thanks for all you do to advance the cause of liberty.
